Dr L

Dr. Laviola

Dr. Diane Laviola came to us from Tennessee in 2013.  She graduated from The University of Tennessee

with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  Go Vols!!!  She worked for a mixed animal practice for

15 years doing both large and small animal medicine for 7 of those years and then subsequently opened

her own practice.  Although she misses the bonds formed with clients in day practice, she wouldn't trade

the excitement and challenges that emergency medicine brings with each shift at AEC.

Dr, Laviola loves doing anything outside.  She and her husband are avid hikers and would find a different

trail to hike nearly every week in the Smokies.  Their biggest challenge was taking on the Swiss Alps!  Dr.

Laviola is also a helicopter pilot but her favorite spare time activity is taking the dogs for a walk on the

farm or playing with her cats.  She is also the proud mom of pet chickens, guineas, and turkeys.

Dr. Merced

Dr. Dimaris Merced was born and raised in Puerto Rico.  She started her career in veterinary medicine as a

Veterinary Technician.  She got her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Puerto Rico

Mayaguez in 2005 and followed that with her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2007.

She continued her education at Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine.  She completed her

Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2013.  Dr. Merced came to the Animal Emergency Clinic

as a new graduate in 2013, knowing from her past experiences that she loved working in emergency

medicine.  She is a great addition to the clinic and is very helpful when a spanish speaking client needs

help when she is there.  She is also our dedicated reptile doctor.

Dr. Merced has always had a love for small animals and reptiles.  She got her first pet rabbit, Edison,

when she was 12 years old.  Her passion for reptiles led her to adopt her first Leopard Gecko,

Cleopatra, in 2004.  She has since added many reptiles to her pet family.  So many in fact that she

has even lost count!!!  She also has several  "fur kids".  Two of her dogs even joined her for

picture day.

Dr. Wallace:

Dr. Tina Wallace is a native of Cassopolis, MI, where she currently resides.  She received her Doctorate of

Veterinary Medicine degree form Michigan State University in 2001.  She worked for two years in a mixed animal

practice following graduation.  For the past 10 years she has focused her efforts on small animal medicine.

She joined the Animal Emergency Clinic in 2015 and loves the fast paced environment.

Dr. Wallace has had a love for animals since she was a little girl.  Her first pet was a pony, Sugar, that

was a gift when she was 3 years old.  She married her husband, Trent, fresh out of Vet school and they

have 4 cats and a horse that make up their furry family.  Outside of work, Dr. Wallace enjoys spending time

with family and friends, reading, and riding roller coasters.  She has even driven an antique tractor across the

Mackinac Bridge.  Her current projects include remodeling her house and restoring her 1962 Chevy Nova,

Snowball.
